Included in this collection are: letter, 5 March 1845, from Henry Nicoll to Peter Townsend requesting information on the Iron Chain; Townsend's reply concerning the Chain; "Notes on the defenses of the highlands of the hudson" by Richard Delafield; letter, 1896, from Daniel Jackson requesting that Abel Nobel be given credit for his part in the manufacture of the West Point Iron Chain; report of action taken, 1897, to comply with Mr. Jackson's request.
